Midwifery Services

Antenatal Care
We provide antenatal care through regular clinic appointments from early pregnancy through to birth. These visits are an opportunity for us to build a relationship with you and your whānau, monitor the well-being of both you and your baby, and support informed decision-making. Your care will include physical health checks, screening and test options, birth preparation, and space to discuss any questions or concerns. We take a shared-care approach, meaning you’ll get to know both of us throughout your pregnancy.
If your pregnancy requires extra support from specialist services we will discuss this with you and offer the referrals required for you to receive the care that is right for you.
Labour and Birth
We support labour and birth at both Te Papaioea Birthing Centre and Palmerston North Hospital.
Our practice includes support for physiological births, water births, and births requiring pain relief and other medical interventions. Should you or your baby require additional support, we work closely with the hospital’s obstetric, maternity and paediatric team to ensure safe, respectful, and collaborative care tailored to your needs.
Because of our shared model, you will be cared for in labour by someone you know and are familiar with.

Postnatal Care
We continue to support you after your baby is born with a series of home visits during the 4–6 weeks after birth. These visits focus on your physical recovery, your baby’s growth and well-being, infant feeding, emotional support, and adjusting to life with a newborn. You’ll receive care from both of us, maintaining the familiar and connected approach you’ve experienced throughout your pregnancy. Our aim is to ensure you feel informed, supported, and confident as you settle into your new role.
